Title  Assistant Critical Facilities Manager 
Reports To  Critical Facilities Manager 
The Job  
The Assistant Critical Facilities Manager (ACFM) is responsible for all aspects of data center and maintenance of critical and non-critical data center infrastructure, equipment, systems, and staff. They will create an unwavering attitude and commitment to safety and reliability within the Data Center as they work with the Critical Facilities Manager (CFM) in building a team of Critical Facilities Technicians (CFTs), Engineers, and outside contractors capable of achieving the goal of 100% availability. The ACFM will understand and be able to train staff on colocation data center environments to include planning and layout of power and cabling, customer needs, and remote hands functions.

<li>Assist the CFM in building a staff of CFTs with the necessary skill sets to accomplish data center operations that deliver total availability (100% uptime) while minimizing risks for customers </li>
<li>Manage power and cooling capacity and monitor environmental conditions within the data halls </li>
<li>Work shifts to support 24×7 data center operations, have flexibility in work hours to cover other shifts, and support maintenance activities, as needed </li>
<li>Provide on-call support and respond to all data center emergencies 24×7, including on-site response outside of scheduled shifts </li>
<li>Resolve all electrical, mechanical, and Fire Protection System issues in the data center while minimizing risk and communicating issues to management and customers </li>
<li>Assist the CFM in a lead capacity coordinating data center construction and commissioning and overseeing the transition from construction to sustainable operations </li>
<li>Review results from preventive maintenance inspections and provide guidance on how to address issues found </li>
<li>Determine actionable items to address Quality Control review results </li>
<li>Assume an ownership stake in the ongoing evolution and operation of the facility Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) </li>
<li>Ensure that all staff adhere to company standards for using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)  </li>
<li>Oversee accuracy and completeness of the CMMS, produce operational reports as needed </li>
<li>Enforce strict adherence to customer SLAs and change control activities </li>
<li>Assist as requested with the development and enforcement of Data Center standards and policies </li>
<li>Responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and reviewing work handled by outside contractors and vendors </li>
<li>Assist with managing client relationship and growing the business at assigned site </li>
<li>Assist and plan with clients on facilities issues and resolutions </li>
<li>Assist the CFM in performing resource planning, cost estimation, and budget development </li>
<li>Assist in managing the facilities budget </li>
<li>Assist CFM with managing facilities support and operations staff </li>
<li>In the absence of the CFM, assume a leadership role with limited authority </li>
<li>Assist with site-tours for current and future customers as-required  </li>
<li>Manage CFT work-schedules and assignments </li>
<li>Manage special projects as assigned </li>
<li>Foster open, respectful, and professional communication directly within the team as well as with co-workers/ teammates and leaders across the organization </li>
<li>Performs other duties as assigned </li>

<li>Minimum 1-year direct management of non-exempt shift-based employees, required </li>
<li>Minimum 1-year experience in a colocation data center environment, preferred </li>
<li>Experience establishing a new colocation data center or data hall, preferred </li>
<li>Technical school with an emphasis on mission-critical operations, high-performance manufacturing, or relevant military operations (US Navy a plus), preferred </li>
<li>Exceptional verbal and written communication skills required for interacting with internal employees and leaders, and external contractors and customers, required </li>
<li>Strong analytical and decision-making skills are required for understanding and evaluating complex problems, including analyzing a problem, identifying solutions, and selecting the best solution required </li>
<li>Solid understanding of budgets and financial topics, preferred </li>
<li>Ability to operate effectively in high-pressure, mission-critical environments. </li>
<li>Able to articulate concepts and ideas to a non-technical audience, required </li>
<li>Able to understand and train others on electrical and mechanical systems, as well as other technical aspects of facilities management, required </li>
<li>Able to read and understand complex drawings, systems and other documentation, required </li>
<li>Experience creating, managing, and maintaining service catalogs and SLAs, required </li>
<li>Knowledge of critical systems monitoring and change control, required </li>
<li>Experience creating and managing a critical infrastructure preventive maintenance program, required </li>
<li>Takes responsibility for actions and is transparent in dealing with internal and external partners/stakeholders, required </li>

Travel  
Occasional travel between data centers may be required as needed.   
Work Environment 
This job operates in a data center, office, and shop environment. This role routinely uses standard maintenance equipment, including ladders, scissor lifts, forklifts, power tools, and voltmeters. While performing these duties, the employee will be exposed to hot and cold environments.  
Physical Demands  
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, and lift up to 50 pounds.   
Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work  
This is a full-time, onsite position. Shifts may vary according to the site. Some nights and weekends may be required.
