About the role

The Senior Data Center Technician is a mission-critical role responsible for leading operations and maintenance activities across electrical, mechanical, and control systems in high-performance data center environments. This position provides advanced technical expertise, oversees QA/QC verification, and supports commissioning activities (CX Levels 4–5), including integrated systems testing (IST). Senior Technicians act as shift leads, mentor junior staff, and ensure strict adherence to safety and reliability standards.

What you’ll do

  • Operations Leadership
    • Lead daily operations and maintenance of mission-critical systems:
      • Electrical: Medium/low-voltage distribution, UPS, PDUs, STS, generators
      • Mechanical: Chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, CDUs, liquid cooling systems
      • Controls: BMS, EPMS, SCADA platforms
    • Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance under MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs.
    • Respond to alarms, troubleshoot faults, and coordinate incident resolution.
  • Commissioning & QA/QC
    • Manage QA/QC inspections and documentation for electrical and mechanical systems.
    • Lead commissioning activities for CX Levels 4–5 and IST scenarios.
    • Collaborate with OEMs, commissioning agents, and engineering teams for system validation.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Enforce NFPA 70E, OSHA, and company safety protocols.
    • Conduct LOTO procedures and ensure proper PPE usage.
    • Participate in emergency drills and root cause analysis (RCA) programs.
  • Leadership & Mentorship
    • Serve as shift lead, assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
    • Mentor junior technicians and support training programs.
    • Provide feedback for continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 3+ years in mission-critical operations (data center, power generation, or industrial facility).
  • Strong electrical and mechanical background with commissioning experience.
  • Proficiency in interpreting one-line diagrams, mechanical drawings, and control schematics.
  • Familiarity with CDU operation, UPS systems, and integrated testing procedures.
  • Skilled in CMMS, BMS/EPMS, and SCADA systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OEM training on UPS/CDU systems.
  • Certifications: OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, EPA Universal Refrigeration.
  • Experience with RCA, QA/QC, and IST execution.
  • Military technical background or trade school credentials.
