Data Center Construction Superintendent

Overwatch Mission Critical

While this initial project will be based in San Antonio, TX, we are seeking employees who are open and available to travel to additional projects across the country once this assignment concludes. This role includes a travel allowance to support mobility between project locations.

Responsibilities:  
  • Promotes and upholds a safe work environment for all workers and other personnel onsite by following the Overwatch safety program and industry safe practices. 
  • Act as the on-site “eyes and ears” of the owner to oversee, assess, report, and manage the safe delivery of data center construction projects. 
  • Serve as a virtual extension of the Owner’s Project Team, establishing a close relationship with the owner to understand project requirements, goals, and constraints. 
  • Bring best practices and innovative experience to facilitate efficiencies in design, construction, and operational transition processes. 
  • Comply with the owner’s standards for quality, cost structure, and on-time delivery. 
  • Assist in maintaining project-level schedule and cost controls and reporting in line with the owner’s requirements. 
  • Create and establish the Master Project Schedule and Budget. 
  • Manage compliance with construction contracts, budgets, changes, payment terms, and schedules. 
  • Participate in contractor pre-qualification, bid solicitation, bid analysis, and recommendations. 
  • Coordinate with the design team to meet the client’s design guidelines and standards. 
  • Assist with city or other authority approvals process, permitting, inspections, etc. 
  • Perform constructability review of project documents and value engineering. 
  • Conduct project cash planning and cash flow projections. 
  • Oversee commissioning plans and processes to completion and final reporting. 
  • Manage punch list, substantial completion, and final completion processes. 
  • Negotiate, resolve, and close out any outstanding change orders, quality issues, or disputes. 
  • Implement communication plans and project documentation governance aligned with company and client requirements. 
  • Track project progress against goals, objectives, approved budgets, and approved timelines, and create action plans to meet objectives. 
 
Qualifications:  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related technical degree (Preferred). 
  • 7+ years of construction management or general contractor experience. 
  • 5+ years of mission-critical/data center construction field management experience. 
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial construction design, bidding, and execution. 
  • Cost management and forecasting knowledge. 
  • Strong organization, planning, and project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to influence decisions through effective verbal and written communication, logical reasoning, and presentation of options. 
  • Comfortable with financial details and able to connect them to the big picture and communicate the story behind the numbers. 
  • Ability to work with diverse cross-functional teams and present findings to senior management. 
 
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
This position may operate in a combination of office, remote, and active construction site environments, depending on project assignment and business needs. Employees must be able to perform essential job functions safely and effectively in both professional and field conditions.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, twist, bend, and climb stairs or ladders for extended periods while navigating uneven, unpaved, or obstructed terrain when on-site.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to travel to and between job sites and access all areas of an active construction zone, including raised platforms, scaffolding, and confined spaces.
  • Must be able to tolerate outdoor weather conditions and exposure to dust, noise, vibrations, and construction-related odors.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and other personnel while maintaining situational awareness in high-activity environments.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety vests, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots are required when visiting or working on active construction sites.
  • This role requires visual acuity sufficient to read drawings, specifications, and safety signage, and to observe site activity.
